In 1966 we established a presence on Possum Kingdom Lake. We enjoy hearing the stories of that humble beginning. The beginning when Kirby (or Papa has he is called now) would see a mobile home being pulled to a spot - and he would drive down the peninsula to see if the owner needed help with plumbing or electrical to get the home established on the fishing lake.
Papa was working for his dad at the time - Lee Groves (or Pap to us). Lee established LL Plumbing Company in Wichita Falls well before that 1966 date. One of their customers had a fishing cabin on the lake and that is precisely how we found our way here. It wasn't long after that 1966 beginning that Pap & Granny moved to the lake to finish raising their family along with Papa & GG raising their boys - Kevin & Kerry.
Pap retired in 1986.
Papa retired in 2006.
Kevin retired in December of 2017.
Kevin has been a part of the every day operations of Groves Mechanical since 1982 and his wife LynDee joined the company in 1991. Kevin & Kerry were business partners until Kevin's retirement.
Now Kerry, Pap's grandson and Papa's son, is carrying on the legacy that was established when he was just 2 years old. The legacy of providing service to those fishing cabin residents of Possum Kingdom Lake. Those fishing cabins can still be found but PK Lake has also grown into a resort community with multi million dollar homes, condominiums, and communities.
Along with their boys - Lance & Corey, Kerry and Cheryl are continuing the legacy well into the next 50 years.
